Highlights of my week

Here's what I'm Loving ...

DIY Donut Balloons!
From Kelly at   studiodiy.com

I'm obsessed with maps!
Some have an interesting old world charm others just ignite my wanderlust with the promise of adventure. This is a really cool way to display them.
Love the Look!

Space Cat/ Galactic Kittens Neon Leggings from Hot Topic - These are crazy cute!!

Recently, some friends and I, went to see a local high school production of the musical Chicago.  Not only was it thoroughly entertaining, we were blown away by all the amazing performances from these gorgeous, talented, young students. Live theater is always pretty thrilling.  When the story is told right before your eyes a kind of magic happens that sweeps you up into the drama of the characters and the songs they sing.  I Loved it!
I found the old book while thrifting.  I absolutely Love that surprised, amazing feeling you get sometimes while thrifting when you come across an item that is familiar but you haven't seen or thought about it in ages.  Truly a Blast From the Past!!  When I was an angsty teen, I remember I Loved reading all the Paul Zindel books.  I identified with the characters and gobbled up every word. I could I have forgotten?
I wonder if I'll still enjoy the story reading it so many years later?
Tea Time!
I tried a new tea from Harney & Sons called Green Tea with Coconut.  It comes in the cute tin and I purchased it at Target.  The scent of the silk sachet bags is very nice, flowery and made me like it even before I brewed it.  The taste is even better!  It's very aromatic and scrumptious.

Anyway, that's what is currently making me happy.

What do you do to make yourself  happy?
Here's to Good Times!!!

Who Doesn't Love a Great Party?

I adore celebrations of any kind, big or small but especially Weddings.

I'm a fool for Romance ♥
Recently, my daughter's BFF, Alex got married at Tanglewood Park, Clemmons, NC.  Isn't she gorgeous?
I had the honor of helping make her day special by decorating, as well as attending.

The Happy Couple, Alex & Matt.
Isn't this photo fun?
If you are looking for a fantastic photographer in NC, contact Ali, of
She's an absolute DoLL & I highly recommend her

I created this display of stacked refurbished vintage suitcases paired with a new one from Michael's.  Looks retro sweet and serves as a repository to hold all the cards the new couple received from their guests.

I Love the way pink green look together, my absolute favorite color combination.

The Bride wanted these pretty cupcakes displayed on cake stands to double as part of the table centerpiece decor as well as tempting the guests to help themselves to a treat.

These IKEA lanterns were purchased last summer for my daughter's wedding table centerpieces.
They are such a great price!  {$15 for the large 17" lanterns and $8 for the 12"}
I wanted them to look different for Alex's wedding so I added pink organza ribbon tied in a bow around the LED pillar candles, silk flowers and ferns, butterflies and bird's nests for an enchanting spring look.

I used my Sizzix to cut/ emboss paper butterfly accents in blush pink, lavender, silver metallic and gray flourish print.

It's my dream to have a party/ event planning business specializing in vintage rentals & creative, whimsical decor details.   I've been hosting all kinds parties of my own, for my kids & our friends.  And it is through their support and encouragement that I think I have the courage to make a GO of it!

Next on my agenda is creating a separate blog for posting about the parties & events I have done in the past and future {Let's be positive!}  Then making a logo & business cards.  It's all very exciting!

Thank you to anyone that can offer some tips, guidelines or insight into forming your own business.  I am grateful for any & all the feedback.

I would Love to hear about some of your Favorite parties that you have attended.  What was it about them that made it so special or memorable?

Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring!

Come on spring!  We are all tired of winter and soo ready for Spring's pretty flowers, pastel colors and warmer temperatures.  Planting pansies is a Southern tradition.  So I like to plant a lot of them in my garden.

Clash of the Titan, aka the winter storm that knocked our socks off and large branches off our trees!!
One of my absolute angel neighbours had cut up that mega tree limb.  What do you think I should do to thank him for that kindness?

Hellebores or Lenten Rose starting to awaken.

These plants are among the first to bloom in early spring

Have you seen these new Peeps? They are adorable and have a Lovely vanilla aroma.  I got that darling mug for $5 at Home Goods.  It is the palest shade of blue & the perfect size for coffee, tea or hot chocolate ~ mega ♥ I do Love a big pretty mug.

Signs of Spring

Photos of My Garden Coming to Life

We had a few days of sunny warm weather and some spring bulbs have popped up practically overnight.

Soon daffodils will be in bloom, too with the pretty purple crocuses

That color looks fantastic amidst all the brown in the landscape

Blooming Crocus

Here's Emily dressed in another cute outfit,  Isn't she pretty?  I Love her fashion style.

It got up to 69 degrees today so I wore my flipflops and planted some pansies.  I Love Spring ♥  I can't wait for the daffodils to bloom.  What is your favorite spring flower?
